Philippines VAT Invoice Guide (TIN + PHP PDF)

· · Reviewed by NestInvoice editorial team

Philippine VAT invoices should make TIN, VAT amount, and total payable easy to find in PHP. Generator defaults (often 12%) are a starting point — exempt or zero-rated supplies need different treatment. Official e-invoicing, when it applies, stays on BIR-authorized channels. Do not copy Singapore GST or Malaysia SST rates onto PH invoices — use the hub /ph.

Fields that matter

Supplier and client, TIN when required, unique number, dates, description, net, VAT, and total — see what to include.

Keep net/VAT/gross easy to read so AP teams can post the bill without guessing.

Rates and non-VAT supplies

Do not leave 12% on an exempt or zero-rated line. If you are not VAT-registered, remove the tax line rather than inventing a percentage.

Regional tax systems differ — structure only: Singapore GST, Malaysia SST.

PDF vs BIR e-invoicing

A clear PDF helps the client pay. It does not replace BIR-authorized e-invoicing when that applies. When the buyer needs an official structured document, treat this tool as a draft or annex.

Using the PH generator

Open Philippines VAT or /ph. Enter TIN under From, itemize in PHP, set Taxes, download PDF.

Steps: how to create an invoice. Overview: VAT on invoices.

  • Keep payment instructions (bank / GCash notes) on the PDF when you collect that way
  • Estimates and quotes live under the same hub
  • Generator helper only — not BIR portal software

Frequently asked questions

Is every sale subject to 12% VAT?

No. Confirm whether your supply is VATable, zero-rated, or exempt before locking a rate.

Do I need TIN on the PDF?

Registered businesses typically show TIN. Confirm BIR requirements for your invoice type and threshold.

Is this BIR e-invoicing software?

No. It formats a clear client PDF. Use authorized systems when e-invoicing is mandatory.

Same as Singapore GST or Malaysia SST?

No. The Philippines has its own BIR rules and PHP. Use [/ph](/ph), not only an SG or MY generator.

Quote or invoice?

A quote is a proposal. The invoice is the payment request — keep them separate in your records.
